Chapter Philanthropy and Service

The national philanthropy of Zeta Tau Alpha is Breast Cancer Awareness and Education, and in Samford ZTA, we strive to support our philanthropy all throughout the year.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness and Education month, and we host many Think Pink activities. On campus, we pass out pink awareness ribbons through tabling on Ben Brown and organize a campus-wide volleyball tournament, Volley for a Cause. Students from all sororities, fraternities, and other organizations come together in teams to play in one big tournament to benefit ZTA's philanthropy.

In the spring, Delta Psi hosts one of the biggest Greek fundraisers of the year, Mr. Samford. Other sororities and fraternities on campus can get involved by nominating a male representative to compete for the title. The Mr. Samford pageant features several rounds including a group dance, lip sync challenge, talent, and on-stage interview. Shoutout to the 2024 Mr. Samford, Wayne Mayfield!

"Zeta Tau Alpha’s Philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness and Education means so much to me because my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. Being able to raise money that goes toward helping other women like my mother fuels my passion for this philanthropy! There can always be more people Thinking Pink around our campus and in Birmingham. I have enjoyed planning events such as Mr. Samford and little events in between to help raise a passion and encourage our chapters to get involved. This philanthropy is not only a great cause nationally, but means so much to me personally too!" — Abbey Duke, 2025 Vice President of Philanthropy and Service
